From his experience working for home builders and Maryland general contractors during high school and college, Kevin Taylor realized he enjoyed this industry. After graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration, he decided he wanted to stay in the construction industry, but be self employed. In 1990, he started Taylor Made Custom Contracting. It allowed him to pursue his passion of being able to interact with people, while providing a much needed service. At first, Kevin concentrated on painting but as he became more experienced, he expanded his company's range of services. When the company became incorporated in 1993, Kevin knew he was in it for the long haul.

In 1995, he started performing Maryland home modifications and offering accessibility services. He felt that this area contributed to his personal satisfaction of helping people. This also opened up an entire new niche with a select number of experienced remodelers. Taylor Made Custom Contracting became part of the growing number of remodelers offering the design/build approach. This approached really helped define Kevin and Taylor Made's strengths because it allowed their customers to experience what continues to set them apart from the competition. Kevin's designs are not only creative, but functional. He really thinks about how people live and function in their home and then creates designs which are practical and innovative.

Suzanne Taylor, a B.S. graduate in Communications with years of outside sales experience, joined the company in 1996. She contributes to the company by offering a female perspective. Customers often feel very comfortable around her because she can relate on a completely different level. Having the combination of experience and sensitivity proves to work well because 80% of Taylor Made's projects come from referrals and previous customers.

Taylor Made Custom Contracting became authorized installers for Home Depot, IKEA, Sears and Dick's Sporting Goods in the late 1990's. They also expanded their services into the commercial arena by offering tenant build out services and creating radio sound studios for 106.5, 102.7 and 101.9. Kevin and his crew even helped build a home for the elephants at the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore. Becoming a preferred Maryland contractor for such large manufacturers such as Owings Corning and CertainTeed added to Taylor Made's credibility.

Continuing to upgrade and change has always been important to both Suzanne and Kevin. In 2007, Suzanne became a "Certified Aging in Place Specialist" meaning she met the qualifications required by AARP and the National Association of Home Builders, on how to perform home solutions for our aging and disabled customers. Expanding on the specialty of Universal Design in 2008, Taylor Made became authorized dealers of residential elevators, wheelchair lifts and stair glides. This allowed them to coordinate the right products for their customers, and to provide competitive pricing. In 2009, Taylor Made won four remodeling awards from the Home Builders Association of Maryland. Winning the Super Service Award from Angie's List in 2010 was the result of having an exceptionally high amount of positive online cutomer reports. Becoming an EPA lead safe certified firm in 2011, exemplifies Taylor Made's commitment to ethics and compliance.

Taylor Made's employees are friendly, stable and experienced people who are active community members, fathers and husbands. Kevin has been utilizing the same subcontractors for years and has excellent long term working relationships with all of them. Taylor Made is an honest, family owned and operated business. Never having a complaint with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission, being A+ rated with the Better Business Bureau, and being A rated with Angie's List, helps to prove that statement.
